NOTE - I did not need to change any proxy settings in any of my internet browsers. My iTunes has been working perfectly since (for the last couple of weeks), so clearly there are some compatibility issues with the current version of iTunes with Windows 10, but thankfully, the Windows 7 compatibility mode appears to resolve those issues. While this is user friendly, it isnt helpful if you are running automated scripts or game servers. Hopefully it will help you also:ģ) Right-click on iTunes application & select Properties.ĥ) Select ' Run this program in compatibility mode for:'. When a Windows program crashes it will popup a program has stopped working message where you can check online for a solution or close the program. I have since set it to use Windows 7 compatibility mode and have not had any crashes or freeze-ups since, so believe (in my case at least), I've solved the issue :-) Every time i open the program it crashes giving me the has stopped working - 9042718. There’s a known bug in Windows 10’s Filter Key feature which causes issues with typing on the login screen. Ive had this issue before but dont remember what i did to fix it. One of these functions allows your computer to turn off inactive devices, possibly turning your keyboard off.
On further investigation, I found that setting the Windows 10 compatibility mode to Windows 8.1 greatly reduced the number of crashes/freeze-ups (but not completely). Windows 10 has many power saving options.
A few days after my last post to you on this thread, my iTunes started freezing-up again!
